Information Collection and Use
The family of apps require some sensitive permissions. The purpose of these permissions is solely:
- Location (coarse and fine): Location is used to visualize the user's (the device) position on the map, as opposed to the boat's position that is retrieved from the built in GPS of the boat.
Location requirement is absolute and must be accepted to use the app. Location used in the app cannot be shared with other users and is not made available outside of the app. - Camera: Camera permission is required only if you select to use the optional feature to connect the device to a wireless camera by USB OTG equipment (USB camera feature) to show the video feed inside the app. The camera on the device itself is never used by the app.
- Read and write to external storage: Permission is requested when using the above camera feature to support recording video footage to video files on the device.
- Record audio: Permission is requested when using the above camera feature to support audio in the recorded video. The microphone of the device is never used by the app.
- Internet: The app will download the maps from the Internet.
- Wifi/Bluetooth/USB: Depending on user's choice of how to establish the telemetry link to control the boat, the app will use Wifi (TCP), bluetooth or USB on the device.
For a better experience, while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, like email address, location of use, screenshots of use, crash logs or similar. Files retrieved from the device and attached to a bug report may include boat location and user location. This is generally a per request basis as the Carp Pilot application collects information to local (on device) logfiles. The user may freely choose to attach such information to a problem report. The application does however rely on access to the internet to retrieve maps.
The app does use third party services that may collect information used to identify you.

Crash log Data
We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of a crash error in the app: The Android device collects data and information (through third party products) and store this as files on your phone in a folder called Log Data. When the device is connected to the internet, your Android device will upload data to Google Play Console as crash log data. Such Log Data generally includes sufficient information to be able to understand why the app crash occurred:
- The country of the Google Play user
- The Android device model
- The Android version installed on the device
- Which or our apps used
- The version of the app used
- Information about what crash type occurred, and exactly where in the the crash got triggered
Other kinds of data is usually not present besides the value of an attibute (like in a number format exception should the code try to convert the string “3S” to a double numeric value). Information about the user ID is never present.
The information is key to identify exactly where in our app we have bad code which is needed to correct such issues and provide you ith the user experience expected.
